THE CLIENT
Home Caring for Autism Ltd supports autistic young people and adults aged 18 and over, with a focus on emotional, educational, social and spiritual growth. Operating across North Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire, they provide residential homes and supported living services designed to support community integration and offer a “home for life” until a more independent living arrangement becomes suitable.
THE CHALLENGE
During a staffing emergency, Home Caring for Autism Ltd was experiencing ongoing difficulties sourcing suitable teams to support autistic people who require complex care. They urgently needed proactive clinicians to tailor care within three weeks. Given the urgency of the situation, they required a swift, well-organised response to address staffing concerns and resolve the issues promptly.
I explained that at that moment in time, we needed a core team of agency staff quickly due to taking on several new emergency placements that were to commence in 3 weeks
THE TEAMING
Within a very short timeframe, Nurseline Healthcare acted quickly to secure proactive clinicians who were carefully matched to the person’s unique needs. Through a personcentred approach, the team managed the challenge exceptionally well, responding to each situation with expertise, professionalism and responsibility. An easily accessible system also enabled everyone involved to observe, review and stay informed about the process and planned activities.
Nurseline kept to their word, amazingly sourcing all the agency staff and all with the appropriate skills and training that we required in time for the emergency placements to start.
THE OUTCOME
Within the agreed timeframe, Nurseline Healthcare provided a team of agency staff with the right specialist skills and training. The team was well-informed, confident and prepared, acting as positive role models throughout the support period. Their commitment to responding to unexpected circumstances was exceptional. Through proactive, consistent and humanised care, Nurseline Healthcare maintained continuity of support and contributed to improved health outcomes.
