This week is Mental Health Awareness Week

May 13, 2018

Stress is the focus of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (14-20 May).

Research has highlighted that almost two thirds of people in the UK will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives, of which stress plays a key role.

The focus of the week will be on how we can look to improve our mental health, exploring ways to deal with stress which contributes to mental health problems including anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide.

Throughout the week, key information and the support available will be highlighted, along with contributions from people with a mental health support need (and their network of support) who are on their journey of recovery.

Take a look at the Mental Health Foundation website where you can:

  • order your green ribbon pin badge to show your support
  • join their social media Thunderclap to help spread the word
  • order or print a copy of their pocket guide which includes information on stress and how to manage and reduce it
  • find out about events local to you
  • talk to someone if you feel that stress is having an impact on your life

Everyone can get involved

The Foundation is keen for everyone to get involved and is encouraging people to hold a Curry & Chaat where you can get together with friends and enjoy a curry whilst raising awareness and funds for the Foundation.

Alternatively, you may have other ideas of how you would like to contribute. We would love to hear how you plan to get involved!
