Mental Health Awareness Week 2019
The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19 May 2019) is ‘How we feel about our bodies’.
Mental health problems affect everyone and anyone
Whether you or your loved one’s mental health support need is stress, relationship, addiction, friendship or loneliness related, or another reason, we encourage each and everyone of you to start a conversation.
With 2001 witnessing the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Week, it is amazing to look back on how far we have come in terms of mental health awareness and the support that is now available.
This year’s focus is on our relationship with our bodies, as research has shown that over 1 in 3 of us in the past year have felt stressed, overwhelmed and unable to copy by our body image and appearance. There is still a lack of much-needed research and understanding around this issue which is why the focus of the week is to use research to continue campaigning for positive change whilst publishing practical tools to help improve the nation’s relationship with their bodies.
The aim is to reach even more people than ever
By tackling what children are taught in schools, by the way we talk about our bodies on a daily basis, and through policy change by governments across the UK we will make a difference.
