Jodie is Deputy Manager of Registrations & Compliance. Mum to two dachshunds (Belle and Teddy) and a Beauty and the Beast fanatic, Jodie started off as an apprentice and thinks Nurseline is a ‘one of a kind’ organisation to work for.

Why did you choose to pursue a career with Nurseline Healthcare?

Before Nurseline Healthcare I had worked in a few customer service roles but felt unappreciated and unhappy. So I quit and thought I’d try to look for something completely different, where I could learn new skills. My aim was to find a company worth working for, which wasn’t a big corporate company – where I’d just be a number. I was 23 when I started working at Nurseline Healthcare and what really appealed to me was the company ethos, what they did and their core values. I couldn’t believe I had found an employer that ticked all these boxes. I was a little bit worried they might not consider me for the apprentice role as I was bit older, but actually this worked in my favour.

There isn’t any other company like Nurseline Healthcare. They’ve enabled me to grow and develop. I don’t think I would get this support working for another company. I also owe a lot to Nurseline Healthcare for what they have done for my mental health and now I want to give back what they have given me.

What does your role entail?

My first role with Nurseline Healthcare was as a registrations apprentice. This lasted just over a year and my role included booking interviews, screening applications, chasing applicants for documentation, reference checking, booking inductions, putting together induction packs, organising the meeting room calendar, making ID badges (and updating them every year) and booking our clinicians in for training.

I now support Steph (Registrations & Compliance Director) and the wider Registrations and Compliance team as Deputy Manager of Registrations & Compliance. I help create processes for the team, conduct 1:1s, interview clinicians and support the crisis team with compliance.

How have Nurseline Healthcare helped you progress?

Not only have Nurseline Healthcare helped me pass my apprenticeship they’ve helped me grow into a senior role and into management. I’ve been offered lots of coaching and I’ve had endless amounts of life-changing support from Steph, Hollie (HR Manager) and Trevor (CEO). Both personally and professionally.

What are the opportunities to develop and progress at Nurseline Healthcare?

We all work really hard, but it’s also a fun place to work where we have a laugh. And, if you demonstrate you’re dedicated and a hard worker, Nurseline Healthcare will help you grow – with lots of opportunities to develop and progress.

I’ve signed up for lots of training modules on our internal Learning Management System (LMS) and Nurseline are great at encouraging us to find and take part in external courses that will help us in our roles. Tamsen (Director of Culture) has also been instrumental in helping me grow, preparing me for my role progressions.

It’s also inspiring to see other people across the business progress including April, who initially started off on reception and now works for the Clinician Care Team and Charlotte who started at Nurseline when it first began (10 years ago) and who is now Purchasing Manager and HR Assistant. What motivates you?

When I started at Nurseline Healthcare, our weekly company-wide meetings would include something called ‘what’s in it for me’ where we’d talk about what we wanted to achieve personally, as well as professionally. I found this really motivating as I felt like I really mattered. When I’m reaching my goals outside of work I’m more engaged at work and generally happier. My first ‘what’s in it for me’ was buying my first house, and since achieving that it has been saving for my wedding and moving to our forever home. Nurseline Healthcare really helped me achieve these things.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

I enjoy the team I work with, love the fact I can be myself and that I’m accepted. It’s great to know that everything I do in my role at Nurseline is benefiting others. The clinicians we take care of rely on me to do a good job and provide them with a first-rate service.

What’s your ambition?

My ambition is a comfortable life – at work and outside of work with a good work/life balance. At the moment I really enjoy my job and the people I work with – but I also cherish my time outside of work to do the things I love – such as being with my family and my dogs, and also my creative hobbies. In the future I would like to work less but currently I’m enjoying working full-time for Nurseline and growing every day in my role as the business evolves.

What’s the greatest achievement (in your role) to date?

Becoming a Deputy Manager! It’s been hard work but I’ve been properly supported along the way. It’s enabled me to learn new skills, opened up opportunities and has boosted my confidence.

What are the social benefits of working for Nurseline Healthcare?

I have made some great friends at Nurseline who share very similar values – two of which who will be my maids of honour at my wedding! I work with a great team of people, which feels like a family.

Anything interesting about yourself, outside of work ie family, hobbies, interests.

I’m a mum to two dachshunds, keen on painting, sewing my own clothes, baking at any chance and Beauty and the Beast obsessed – so obsessed it became my wedding theme!
