Autism Awareness Month

April 18, 2019

It is estimated that approximately 1 in every 100 people in the UK is autistic. Autism affects people in different ways with most people with autism seeing, hearing and experiencing the world differently from people without autism.

Autism is a lifelong condition that affects how people communicate and interact with others. Some people with autism are able to live independently and safely in their own home and community, whilst others need specialist care and support to be able to access and take advantage of the opportunities available to everyone in the local and wider community.

April 2019 is World Autism Month the focus of which is to increase a global understanding and acceptance of people with autism.
